Visual Field Journal: Inside An Old Barn

Black and white captures these shapes and textures well

Looking for interesting subjects for monochrome images, I spent some time inside an old barn on our property to take some shots. Here are a few of the better ones.

The newer section of the barn with beams cut on a saw mill. Built in the 1930’s or 1940’s.

The original half of the barn with hand hewn beams, built in the mid to late 1800’s..

The dark interior with the bright sunlight outdoors provides some interesting lighting. And the old lumber has some great character shows up nicely in black and white images.

I need to spend a little more time, and look closer at some of the fixtures and other items that are still here.

For Sunday’s post, I will look closer at using shapes in monochrome compositions.
