My wife and I decided to brave the tourist towns in the Adirondacks yesterday to see some of the leaves. It’s still a little early, but in parts of the Adirondack’s the change is well underway. In places the show of colors may not end up as bright this year due to the dry conditions over the last few weeks. But some areas look promising, and the last part of the tourist season in the Adirondack mountains is underway.
Old Forge, NY, is one of the larger destinations for tourists in the central Adirondacks during the summer months, and autumn is no different. And this weekend was crowded. However, there were still places where you could get away from the people, and find some quiet.
We got a few photos along the Moose River. The colors are coming, but not at peak yet. But there was enough to be worth the drive this weekend. With the change just beginning, there is still time for getting out and leaf peeping.
It’s great living near the Adirondack State Park. Being able to spend a day driving through the area and hiking some of the trails never gets old, and always makes a fun family outing. I’m fortunate that my wife puts up with my constant stops for photos. Our dogs aren’t quite as understanding, however.
The leaves around home have not really started to turn yet. And in a couple weeks we are headed for the St Lawrence River for some photography. So I hope there will be more fall images on the way!
For an up to date report on the autumn foliage, check out the fall foliage tracker.
Photos were taken with the Fujifilm X-T5 and the 16-55 f2.8ii. With the bright sun, I used a circular polarizer to help get the most out of the colors with the harsh light.
